45 years ago, in 1976 when we went to the studio to record this album, nobody would have imagined that the enormous interest in this work would last over so many years.
With this Anniversary Remaster I have tried now to bring the old original master tape to new life, hopefully a bit closer to the sound we had expected in those days. Think it was worth the effort, enjoy!
Gerald Krampl, Vienna 2021
For the first time since about 20 years the album is now again available also on CD in a beautiful Digipack Edition!
About the band:
Kyrie Eleison was a well known Austrian Prog-Rrock band, founded 1974 by Gerald Krampl (keyb.) together with two school friends, Karl Novotny (dr.) and Felix Rausch (guit.). They played on all bigger festivals in Austria together with groups like Van Der Graaf, Amon Düül, Eela Craig, Collosseum etc., toured several times through the country with their concept of a "Symphonic Rock Theater" à la Genesis and Yes, and self released in 1977 this highly acclaimed LP: "The Fountain Beyond The Sunrise". Due to onlasting personnel troubles and the impossibility to produce a second LP led in the end to the split of the group in 1979.
Following musicians played (chronologically) in the band: Gerald Krampl (Keys), Wolfgang Wessely (Voc.), Michael Schubert (Voc.), Felix Rausch (Guit.), Manfred Drapela (Guit.), Gerhard Eder (Guit.), Gerhard Frank (Bass), Norbert Morin (Bass), Karl Novotny (Drums), Otto Singer (Drums).

The new live EP by Ryan W. Stevenson's project reminded me, that this debut album must have been gone down the wishlist... If instrumental Canterbury stuff is your thing, this should be a no-brainer. Firmly rooted in the past (late 60s, 70s), nevertheless with a fresh sound. Guests incude The Tangent's Andy Tillison and Soft Machine's Theo Travis. Carsten Pieper

Though only their third studio album release, these veterans have been around for almost fifteen years--and they keep getting better with each release--which is hard to manage since their quality of compositions, performances, and production have always been top notch. A band that really should be heard! wafiii
